This week in the art room everyone was working on a pumpkin project. This lesson required kindergardeners to learn how to draw and paint a pumpkin. The following week the students cut smiling mouths and lots of teeth from black and white paper. These were some of the most original looking smiling pumpkins I have seen, including "Sir Laughs Alot". We took what can be a scary theme and made it fun, silly, even hilarious. Fall is in the air here in the mountains of North Carolina and we LOVE it! Early morning walks now require a fleece jacket with a hood. Pumpkins, hot cider, and the smell of wood smoke is creating an environment to really enjoy this special season.
